READING MATERIALS: A Book Club

We’re excited to partner with Textile Arts L.A. on a new book club, READING MATERIALS, with a focus on art and materials. We will be reading books about the artist’s life, about ways of seeing and reasons for making, and about our inextricable relationship with the materials in our hands.

Our next book is Robert Henri’s The Art Spirit, which we will discuss on Wednesday, July 22nd. Robert Henri is an American painter (d. 1929), who wrote extensively on teaching art and the role students have in the art world. The Art Spirit is a collection of his musings, technical advice and personal philosophies in art. Note the LAPL has e-book versions available to borrow.
