Join us for a free pop-up workshop featuring the Paper Seed Bomb Project with Hector O. Hernandez on Saturday, May 29 from 1pm - 3pm. Stop by anytime to participate! All materials will be provided.

This will be an in-person* event at Woodbine Park (next to Studio 203):
3409 Vinton Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90034
*Participants are encouraged to wear face coverings and practice social distancing.

Create your own seed bombs from paper pulp + SoCal native wildflower seed mixtures! Once dried, the “seed bomb” can be planted in your garden. Inspired by religious votive offerings, the seed bomb molds reference American coins with community-based imagery, including coins for "empathize," "listen," "vote," "read" and "speak up.“

This project was developed to activate positive change through dialogue and introspection, and is the community-based component to our current exhibition, My America Is Not Your America. All participants are encouraged to document their seed growth and share images with Studio 203 and Hector O. Hernandez to be included via monitor display in the exhibition.

Thank you to our sponsor, Southern California Fibershed, who encourages community building and connections between textile artists, designers, fiber farmers, processing mills, suppliers, and retail businesses. They encourage a transparency that will empower wearers, farmers, artisans, and consumers to engage with and understand the soil-to-skin paradigm.
